My name is Courtney Escoyne, and I’m a contemporary ballet dancer currently residing in New York City. I’m in my final year as a BFA student at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts (studying dance, of course). Originally I’m from Louisiana, though I spent my freshman year of university in London.

I’m one of those people who goes to dance performances and spends the interval writing madly in the program/typing on my phone so I can try to get a handle on my impressions and my opinions on the movement, the composition, and the dancers. I’m also one of those people who absolutely geeks out about the geeky things that I’m into (ie Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes [generally, but in particular the eponymous BBC series], Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Hannibal, Supernatural, Team Starkid…to name a few fandoms). But most of it comes back to dancing.

This is where I’m going to try to channel all of the data/impressions/opinions that are bouncing around my head.

Also, if you’re one of my wacky colleagues/acquaintances and have a show/performance/whatever you’d like me to view and review, get in touch!
